Córdoba has added 4 minibuses powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) to its fleet. Thus, the fleet of vehicles of the Andalusian city is renewed, a city that wants to be committed to a modern, safe and much more ecological public transport. The vehicles are the Mobi City L7 model, 7 meters long, a necessary requirement for a city with a historic centre and very narrow streets.

Small on the outside, but with a large capacity

Despite the small size of the minibus, the mayor of Córdoba, Jose Maria Bellido, highlights the large passenger capacity, despite of being “smaller, only seven meters long they have more seats than those used until now” – up to 37 seats each. Another feature of the vehicle is its expanded tanks, which reach 368 litres, offering a much longer range without the need to refuel at the gas station.

Great accessibility

The minibuses are built on Iveco Daily 70c14 CNG chassis, and are equipped with air conditioning, electric brake, 8-speed Hi-Matic automatic gearbox and Emar urban seats. Despite its compact size, the Mobi City L7 model is equipped with a rear low entry and a ramp, which makes it highly accessible for people with reduced mobility. It is one of the aspects that the mayor of the city has also highlighted: “they allow us to continue increasing accessibility, by being prepared for anyone with mobility problems or for access with baby carriages.”

For the historical center and connections of peripheral neighbourhoods

These minibuses will provide service both in the historical centre of the city and in neighbourhoods in the north of Córdoba and the urbanizations, to connect them to the rest of the city’s urban transport.

Urban minibuses are excellent for providing this type of service. On the one hand, their small size, 7 meters long and 2 meters wide, allow them to access historical centres with narrow alleys and small turning circles. On the other hand, they are ideal for areas with low population density, improve connectivity with the rest of public transport and allow municipalities to provide a high-quality public transport service to the entire population.
